Alfie Scholars Lorra Hernon and Adrian Nava Selected to Serve on University Student Nursing Organizations
Congratulations to Lorra Hernon and Adrian Nava (both Nursing ’21). Lorra is the incoming mentorship officer of the Transfer BSN Class of 2021 Cohort. Adrian will serve as president of the Transfer BSN Class of 2021 Cohort and treasurer of the Seattle University Student Nurses Association (SUSNA).
The Transfer BSN Cohort supports more than 80 nursing students completing their final two years of their BSN at Seattle University. The Seattle University Student Nurses Association (SUSNA) is a member of the state association, Nursing Students of Washington State (NSWS), and of the National Student Nurses Association (NSNA). SUSNA is active in local community service activities and student government. Additionally, attendance at the annual state and national convention, each spring, is organized by the chapter officers.
Lorra is excited to serve her fellow nursing students. "I understand firsthand the importance of having a mentor and paying it forward. I want to help create a welcoming space for networking, identifying resources, and making friendships amongst nursing students and beyond. My goal is to ease the transition for incoming transfer students by creating a sense of comfort within the nursing program. I am looking forward to what the next year and a half has in store for all of us."
"I am excited to have the opportunity to represent nursing students at Seattle University; I want to ensure our school and our community hears their voices. I am passionate about making a change," says Adrian. "My parents impressed on me that ‘you have the strength in you to make a change.’ I have carried these words with me and used them to develop my personal ethos, focused on advocating for, uplifting, and empowering others."
