Congratulations Tau Sigma honor society inductees!

Congratulations to the recent inductees into the Gamma Mu Seattle University chapter of Tau Sigma, a national honor society that recognizes and promotes academic excellence and leadership in transfer students. After transferring, students who earn a 3.5 GPA or higher in their first quarter are invited to join Tau Sigma. On March 3rd, in their first major event since our return to campus, new members participated in the Gamma Mu chapter induction ceremony. Among those inducted were the 2021 Alfie Scholars: Phanghouy Chea (Business Analytics), Asmerom Ghirmai (Nursing), Bokyung Kim , Lia Matias Matos (Business Administration), Serah Ombongi (Nursing), and Salina Timalsina (Nursing). “I feel honored to be inducted into Tau Sigma. I can create connections with people who have amazing stories of passion and perseverance. I’m grateful to be included within this community,” Lia Matias shared.

Alfie Scholars Alumna and Tau Sigma member Haley Cummins (Strategic Communication ’21) discussed Imposter Syndrome and finding her place during college.

The evening’s guest speaker was Alfie Scholars Alumna and Tau Sigma member Haley Cummins (Strategic Communication ’21). Haley, who now works for World Vision and the Discovery Center at the Gates Foundation, discussed Imposter Syndrome and finding her place during college. A magna cum laude graduate, she reminded the transfer students they are an important part of Seattle University. “You have attended classes during a pandemic, started at a new school, and thrived. You belong here,” she said.
